There was a recent interview here and there's basically some confirmations that Samus & Joey is in fact canon. It's stated to take place between Super Metroid and Fusion, and the story director of Other M even confirmed the "Any Objections Lady?" followed by a had S&J in mind. Other M was also stated to be a sequal to Super Metroid, but also a prequel to S&J.

So, I personally think the "Non-Canon warning" could be removed? DarkDragonMedeus (talk) 16:53, January 2, 2020 (UTC)

No, it's not confirmed canon. Nintendo has obviously forgotten about this story, otherwise they might've promoted it more. Sakamoto never said anything about the story of this impacting MOM, nor is it a confirmed prequel to Samus and Joey. Kouji wouldn't have been told about the game. Well, one of the questions was if it was part of the main official storyline and where it take place. Which Kouji said it's between Super Metroid and Fusion. And at the ending, which a lot of people were questioning whether or not she lived, it's answered that's she's still around and obviously preparing for Fusion. And the only reason Nintendo didn't promote it more was because Metroid is not very popular in Japan. And it was still Published by Nintendo, not saying that detail means much, but main authors forgetting about certain things doesn't suddenly make them not canon. It could be canon, I never said it wasn't. However, until we know for sure that it is (i.e. confirmation by Nintendo), then we can't prove it. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 13:33, January 7, 2020 (UTC)

Canonicity[]

You do well not to take Samus & Joey as canon.

“It’s canon because multiple elements of multiple canon games are from it.”

By that logic, Dragon Ball films are canon because Broly is from three of them.

“It’s canon because it’s set between Super’s and Fusion’s events.”

By that logic, Dragon Ball films are canon because they’re set at certain points of the story.

It was licensed by Nintendo as they were OK with a work featuring a child, yet it wasn’t written by them but by Kouji, it wasn’t published by them but by Comic BomBom, and it wasn’t even supervised by them as they simply let its author “draw it freely." No one is saying it is canon. It's more than likely not. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 13:46, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
