Name?[]
So, according to the rather unclear hidden text (I don't know Japanese), the original artwork identifies the battleship as VIXIV, while the MDb translation adds "Galactic Federation Battleship" in front. What should we do in this situation, then? Keep the current name and credit the Database's translation, or move it having translated the handwritten text as carefully as possible? (Sorry if I misunderstood anything here or otherwise made a mistake.) --CortexCPU242 (talk) 17:31, November 6, 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies if my hidden text was unclear, but you seem to have gotten the gist of it. Directly compare the original art with the MDb translation, and you can see that the latter adds [Galactic Federation Battleship VIXIV] to a part of the image where there was no Japanese text. I don't know Japanese either, but this exact title does not appear to be anywhere in the Japanese text (notice that "VIXIV" is always written in English, which helps narrow down the search).
- The question is if MDb made up the title themselves, or if it is sourced from somewhere other than the Gallery Mode. If the former is the case, then I'd suggest we rename this page "VIXIV", since that's the only name directly given for this ship in the artwork as far as I can tell.
- If that's the case, should we move Federation Army Special Ops Battleship VIXIV IV to "VIXIV IV" for consistency? Unlike the VIXIV, the VIXIV IV's full title does originate directly from the original Japanese text, but it would look odd having the VIXIV article with a very short title and the VIXIV IV article with a very long title. --PeabodySam (talk) 17:45, November 6, 2018 (UTC)
