Tatori and Tatori, Jr. are simlar looking to tortoises, as they both have same shape legs and a tail, a head that pokes out, and similar color of shells. Though the Tatori are orange, they look identical to a tortoise. Tatori is one of the most heavily armored creatures on Zebes. It has a large shell protecting it's body, save for the legs, neck, and tail and its unprotected legs.
It is refered to as "Kame" in the game's code, which is simply the Japanese word for turtle.
Abilities
They can run at incredible speeds and jump several meters high due to their amazing leg strength. Tatoris have evolved moving at high speed when necessary. To jump, the Tatori retracts its limbs, tail, and head and starts spinning.
Purpose
The purpose of the Tatori in the Super Metroid game is so that Samus can aquire a new energy tank while riding upward on its shell to an energy tank.
