A Temroid[1] is an unused creature in Metroid Prime Hunters. Surprisingly, its name is an anagram of "Metroid", not only bearing similar colors to that of a Metroid larva but its lower half resembling a lower half of a Metroid Larva as well. This may suggest it is connected to the species somehow, which otherwise have no appearances in Hunters.
The Temroid is a red fleshed trilobite-like creature with a layer of green covering its body. It appears to have four to six eyes, two long horns or antennae protruding from its head, and four small limbs to walk or crawl with (though it is possible the creature may float, a trait common in Metroid larva). It is not known if these limbs are indeed tiny legs used to move around with, or simply parts of its body meant to resemble the fangs of a Metroid Larvae. This creature's overall purpose remains unclear, including why it was removed. It can be added into the game via hacking, but does not have any animations, suggesting it was removed before those were created. Due to missing animation files, it will crash the game unless further hacking is utilized to bypass this problem, in which case it will slowly approach a player and can even be killed as any other standard creature.
Trivia[]
- The Temroid's shape bears a striking resemblance to a Glider from Metroid Prime.
- The Quadtroid and the Petrasyl (named Chomtroid in its internal model) are two creatures in Metroid Prime Hunters that also feature references to Metroid larvae. Unlike the Temroid, the other two are used in the final build of the game.
