The Tower of Light is a room in the Chozo Ruins. It appears in Metroid Prime, and is where Samus acquires the Wavebuster.
Description[]
The Tower of Light also provides access to a chamber which holds one of 12 Chozo Artifacts, the Artifact of Lifegiver. The room itself is a very tall tower with many suspended platforms all the way up and a pool of water at the bottom. In the water is a large Chozo Statue facing a round metal hole that leads to the Tower Chamber door. To reach it, however, the Gravity Suit is required to jump up a step.
The Wavebuster is found at the very top of the tower, but it is only possible to climb so far. The Wavebuster can be acquired by destroying twelve columns, weakened over time due to age and physical stress. To go higher, Samus must fire a number of Missiles or just one Super Missile at each of four weak pillars around the room. The number of regular missiles needed per weakened section depends on difficulty (3 on Normal Mode, 6 on Hard Mode). Upon destroying the first set of four pillars, a cutscene will trigger showing the room lowering in height, allowing Samus to reach higher towards the top of the tower. Due to the weight of the fallen part of the room, four more columns sprout visible stress fractures. The process of destroying a set of four pillars must be repeated twice more to reach the Wavebuster, now with the need to avoid Oculi on the weak sections when shooting as these creatures reflect Missiles and Super Missiles. Two Oculi opposite of each other occupy the second set of pillars (one on each pillar), while the third and final set of pillars have four Oculi; one each on each of the four pillars. Plated Puffers appear too, but they explode when Samus moves two ledges higher.
If Samus leaves the room, the columns will respawn. There are also no Missile drops in this room, so Samus would need to stock up on ammo in previous rooms before she attempts to reach the top of the tower. Climbing the tower requires a minimum total of 36 missiles on Normal, or 60 on Hard if all shots are Super Missiles.

Trivia[]
- There is an unused layer in this room labelled "2nd Pass", which features two Puddle Spores, creatures that inhabit lava and are found nowhere else on Tallon IV but the Magmoor Caverns during Prime. Of note is that there is no evidence of lava being present in the room at one point, which may indicate that the Puddle Spores were to be suspended in the water. These two Puddle Spores have a unique model when viewed with the X-Ray Visor, as well as an unfinished scan that uses placeholder text and images.
