SSB4-Wii U Congratulations All-Star Samus

Samus's Drill Kick in Wii U

An Up Air Attack[1] is an attack used by all characters in the Super Smash Bros. series. This is an attack performed in midair, directed up. An Up Air Attack is commenced by jumping once or twice and then pressing the attack button while holding the control stick up. Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Ridley, and Dark Samus each have their own Up Air Attack, which is an upward kick for all three Samus characters.

Samus's Up Air Attack is the Drill Kick[2] (ドリルキック?)[3]. As the name implies, it is an upwards-directed drilling kick with five hits. Each hit deals 2% damage for a total of 10% (Super Smash Bros.) The attack is impractical as it is not easy to land all of the hits on an opponent, and Samus is left vulnerable to attacks by other opponents. The total damage percent slightly increased for all subsequent games: hit 1 deals 3%, hits 2-5 deal 1%, and hit 6 deals 4% for a total of 11%. Dark Samus uses the Drill Kick as well. Aside from its use as an attack in the series, the Drill Kick also appears in the Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U All Star Congratulations screen, where four Samuses are using the attack while underwater at Delfino Plaza, resembling Synchronized Swimming.

SSB4 Zamus Up Air Attack

Zero Suit Samus's Up Air Attack in Wii U

Zero Suit Samus's Up Air Attack is a flip kick above her head with both of her legs. It is a decent KO move if Zero Suit Samus is using the attack on an opponent near the upper blast line. It deals 10% with a clean hit, and 7% with a late hit in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, the attack deals less damage, at 8% whether it is a clean or late hit. An update to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on January 29, 2019 shortened the amount of time that Zero Suit Samus cannot grab ledges after using her Up Air Attack.

Ridley's Up Air Attack involves him clapping his wings together upward, dealing 12% base damage and huge knockback. The sides of his wings most of the damage.
