The "upper shipyard" is a room in Hanubia. It appears in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
This room is located outside the area's indoor facility, and is open to Hanubia's constant heavy rain and lightning strikes. It appears to be high above the ground. The entrance to the shipyard and exit to the former Artaria elevator shaft is in a walled-off section with a Shakernaut, and a small tunnel in the right wall. This is obstructed by a Grapple Beam Block; when removed, Samus can slip through the narrow passage to access the rest of the room. The only notable feature in this section is a flickering overhead light, and a waterfall of runoff from the rain falling from a higher ledge in the background.
Past the wall is a high ledge with a Total Recharge Station, underneath which is a narrow tunnel covered with wires in the foreground. This tunnel houses a Missile Tank (see below). Further into the background are at least three other buildings with walkways. A ceiling above the room prevents Samus from Space Jumping into the sky. Two Mawkin starships are present near the buildings in the background, somewhat jostling in place. The stern of the vessel that brought the E.M.M.I. to ZDR is also barely visible in the lower right corner of the screen when Samus stands so that the Mawkin ships are to her left. The rest of it is visible in another nearby shipyard.
On Samus's first visit, the Elite Chozo Soldier is present in the background. It stands on a ledge in the background, before Spin Jumping to the right, bouncing off one of the Mawkin ships, and disappearing behind the building wall. It is fought in the next chamber.[1] Its spear is visible if Samus looks closely at the building the Chozo Soldier jumped behind.
Connecting rooms[]
- "Transport to Artaria" (via Power Beam Door)
- "Elite chamber" (via Wave Beam Cover)
Inhabitants[]
First visit[]
- 1 Shakernaut
- Elite Chozo Soldier (background, first visit only)
After Elite Chozo Soldier[]
On subsequent visits, a yellow X will automatically materialize into one of the Sharpaws when Samus enters. The other two creatures will already be animated.
Items[]
- Missile Tank
- Past the walled-off part is a narrow passage underneath the ledge with the Total Recharge Station. Samus can fire a Missile into the tunnel to destroy a block, then roll in to collect the tank.
