Disambiguation Edit

Saw the change right before my eyes. So I was wondering...

For Wikitroid, how many pages does it take to create a qualifying Disambiguation page?

(EDIT) Thank you for the link! Was looking for that.  Signed, DarkraiShadowXZ (talk) 17:08, July 25, 2019 (UTC)

About Trial Tunnel/Grounds... Edit

Actually there are two empty doors in Trial Grounds. One of them is behind Ingworms and actually loads Trial Tunnel. The other one is just floating off map (the picture seen here). The floating unused door in the Light World is the door connecting Mining Station B to Storage A. Due to level layout, it would appear the unused floating variant is completly buried in sand.  Signed: DarkraiShadowXZ (talk) 02:21, July 26, 2019 (UTC)

New Wiki Manager Edit

Hey Madax, just introducing myself. I'm Technobliterator, and I'm taking over from Jr Mime for this wiki. Since he took over one of my wikis, I took this one on in exchange. Let me know if you need help with anything!--Technobliterator @fandom (TC) 16:36, January 13, 2020 (UTC)

Welcome to the wiki! --Madax the Shadow {ADMIN} (talklogscontribs) 22:44, January 18, 2020 (UTC)

New New Wiki Manager Edit

Hello, Madax the Shadow! My name is SlyCooperFan1 (call me Sly!) and I'm the new new Wiki Manager for your wiki. I know it's changed a couple of times now, but Technobliterator was suddenly unable to continue the position so I'm taking responsibility of the wikis he was managing.

As Jr Mime and Techno already stated, I act as a liaison between this community and Fandom Staff and I'm here to provide assistance wherever needed, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! And I hope you won't need another Wiki Manager introduction for a while :P SlyCooperFan1 [message · contributions] 00:06, February 25, 2020 (UTC)

Help Edit

I am going to help you with your "List of rooms" articles since I was considering on making the same thing. The only question I have is how do you find the room names? Do you make them or name them based on their description/fan-name? Thanks- PurpleSamurai5.0 [messagecontributions] 8:13, April 16, 2020

WHY?! Edit

I saw you deleted every last one of the maps that I reformatted. I have no idea why because there were already links to the exact maps. All I did was remove the links and change it to an image on the wiki so readers wouldn't have to rely on external sites. Just in case though, I read the fanart guidelines and I was confident they still apply. RoyboyX even noticed the maps but never indicated there was a problem. PurpleSamurai5.0 00:43, June 11, 2020 (UTC)

There was a problem. I told you to give credit when uploading them so that we at least wouldn't be passing the maps off as our own. Externally linking to the maps has been fine for us for a long time, although I will note that Metroid Recon has gone down at different points. On IRC we're discussing making full area maps of our own to neggate this problem. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 00:46, June 11, 2020 (UTC)
From About - Legal information:
"All other original content on this website including but not limited to web code, graphics, layout and guides is © 2006-2020 Metroid Recon and may not be used on any other website or in any other media format without permission."
While you did source your uploads, that does not qualify as permission to use their content on our site. Also, from Wikitroid:Images#Fanart:
"Fanart is restricted to pages in the User:, User talk:, Forum:, and Forum talk: namespaces. This means no fanart on articles whatsoever. Adding fanart to articles will result in removal of the image from the article and deletion of the image and/or a warning and/or a fanart upload ban and/or a block."
Regardless if you even did obtain permission to upload the images, they cannot be used on articles as they are fan-made creations. Maps captured directly from the games or provided by developers (such as concept art) are the only available options to use in articles. --Madax the Shadow {ADMIN} (talklogscontribs) 00:58, June 11, 2020 (UTC)
I couldn't find any copyright info so you are right about that, but can't we just ask the artists for permission? Also, from Wikitroid:Images#Fanart:

...However, if an image that would otherwise be considered fanart is used to illustrate the article of a notable subject (a good example would be the article on the Metroid Database), it does not need to be tagged as fanart nor is the image under the same restrictions as fanart, provided that all of the following conditions are true:

The subject of the article is sufficiently notable (generally, this reads as if the article on the subject has not been deleted)

The image in question is used on the subject's article

No "official" image (i.e., image from an official Nintendo or other popular media outlet) exists that could be used instead of the fanart image

PurpleSamurai5.0 01:13, June 11, 2020 (UTC)

As I said, we're looking into capturing and recreating the maps from the games as images, so they can be used in articles. They would not include fan elements like Metroid Recon's does. RoyboyX(complaints/records) 01:27, June 11, 2020 (UTC)
There's a good reason why Metroid Database is provided as an example there. Despite being a fansite, it was deemed notable enough for an article; however, because of it being a fansite, any media of it will always be fanart as there will never be any provided by Nintendo of it. Therefore, it becomes exempt from the no-fanart rules.
However, maps from the game can be captured in the games themselves. We don't allow fanart of enemies to be posted on articles, nor do we allow fan renditions of rooms or action sequences. Concept art, screen caps, and renders are all available for these items, so we can use those on the articles but not unofficial custom art of them. Just because they're not uploaded yet doesn't mean official options aren't available. --Madax the Shadow {ADMIN} (talklogscontribs) 01:30, June 11, 2020 (UTC)
But the only official thing that comes to mind is screen captures, and you can't capture the entire map in one image. I guess we are going to have to do RoyboyX's idea, because it's ineffective to take 8 pictures for a single area, the Metroid Recon links don't always work, and we can't upload the fanart. Patroller Request Edit

In you're recent denial of my Patroller request, you said "You have still had recent policy infractions". From what I know, I have only had two infractions, one being almost two months old. You seemed to imply that I have had more infractions then those stated. Could you please elaborate? You also seemed to imply that I am unfamiliar with wiki policies. Again, from those two infractions I mentioned, only one of them was a misunderstanding on my part. The other was just a mistake and while still my fault, was not a misunderstanding of policies. I have already taken the time to try my best to familiarize myself with the Wiki policies. If there are any you think I especially need to look at, could you please let me know? Another thing, when you said to give myself another month, is that definitive? (so exactly July 28) PurpleSamurai5.0 21:01, June 28, 2020 (UTC)

Vandal report Edit

An anonymous has repeatedly vandalized pages by inserting false information about Samus's height and weight. Just thought you should be aware. --PeabodySam (talk) 02:17, July 13, 2020 (UTC)
