VS. Giant Beetle (VS.ジャイアントビートル?)[1] is a synthesized and frantic boss theme in Metroid Prime. It is heard during the battles against the first Plated Beetle and Sheegoth (including the Beetles and Baby Sheegoths faced shortly before them), but not for any subsequent encounters with other creatures of their kind when they become regular enemies. It is also heard when battling the Cloaked Drone.

The theme was remixed for the Beetle Blast, Shriekbat Shootout, and Triclops Terror Mini-Games in Metroid Prime Pinball. The Pinball version adds a choir.

Instruments and effects from VS. Giant Beetle are used in Short Battle, the miniboss theme of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The similar Zako theme from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption seems to be heavily inspired by VS. Giant Beetle.

This theme can be unlocked in the Soundtrack Gallery of Metroid Prime Remastered. There it is titled Battle 1 and accompanied by a shot of the Beetles that emerge in the Ruined Shrine before the Plated Beetle itself.

The original theme from Prime can be heard here: [1] and the theme from Pinball here: [2].
