"Ventilation" is a room in Ferenia. It appears in Metroid Dread.
Description[]
This room is a small chamber accessible after Samus Aran meets Quiet Robe. It consists of a mini tunnel with a powerful Fan blowing to the right, below a short shaft with multiple platforms attached to the wall in the background. On the upper left of "Ventilation" is an enclosed space with narrow gaps on top of and alongside it. Part of the floor above it has been ripped out and left tipped into the hole. Three Chozo Soldier shields, with their spears crossed behind them, are hung on the wall next to the Fans. The top of the room (above the enclosed space) features three Chozo Soldier statues and three banners with the Mawkin symbol woven into them. Another banner is present to the right of the enclosure, which curiously disappears after the X Parasites are released from Elun. Directly under the enclosure is an etching on the wall that depicts two Zebesians with their claws extended forward.
To get past the Fan, Samus must run towards it with her Speed Booster active, and then either Shinespark or Wall Jump upwards. The latter can allow her to enter the enclosed area and retrieve a Missile+ Tank if she is quick enough. The enclosure features a pair of Fake Blocks on its upper left corner, Boost Blocks along its left side, and Pitfall Blocks underneath it. A tricky Shinespark or Ball Spark is required to get through the Boost Blocks and reach the item; if the move fails, Samus will drop through the Pitfall Blocks and have to start over. The easiest method has Samus run in from the next room, quickly jump to the top of the enclosure, Bomb the Fake Blocks and Ball or Shinespark through the Boost Blocks. A demonstration of this technique can be viewed here.
While more difficult, it is also possible to gain a Shinespark by running towards the Fan, and then quickly reach the Boost Block wall before Ball Sparking into it. A demonstration of this technique can be viewed here.
