Vhoscythe

The Vhoscythe

The Vhoscythe is an evolutionary adaptation and Alt-Form of the Vhozon race. The Vhozon tuck their arms and legs in tightly, allowing themselves to spin quickly in a top-like manner. This alternate form arose as a way for the Vhozon to keep warm on their frigid homeworld, Vho. A Vhozon can also extend at least one arm to use it as a scythe, allowing the Vhoscythe to fend off enemies in a Spin Attack.

The Vhozon Bounty Hunter Noxus uses his Vhoscythe form in the same manner as Samus Aran’s Morph Ball: to enter small passages and to evade or attack enemies. The left arm used as a scythe can knock away opponents (especially opponents also in their alternate forms), making it very lethal. Like Spire's Dialanche Alt-Form and Trace's Triskelion form, it is physical, meaning damage is done in close quarters; Noxus cannot lay bombs. This can serve as a problem against Alt-Forms that do use traps or projectiles. Also, because the Vhoscythe is always spinning, it frequently bounces off walls and can become difficult to maneuver in tight spaces.

Logbook entry

The VHOSCYTHE is the alternative form of the hunter NOXUS. An evolutionary defense mechanism of the VHOZON species, it serves both offensive and defensive purposes.

Metroid Prime Hunters: The Official Nintendo Player's Guide[]

VHOSCYTHE
"The Vhozon homeworld is as harsh and unforgiving as the Vhozon themselves. To keep warm in freezing temperatures, the Vhozon create friction by spinning at incredible speeds. Noxus has become adept at using his spinning form as both a means of escape and a weapon."

Trivia[]

  • The Vhoscythe form is similar to the vortex spin used by the Quad Main Body and Quadraxis.
  • It seems that while in Vhoscythe form, the Vhozon user folds their legs up over their body (indicating that they are very flexible) and crosses their arms in front.
  • The Vhoscythe is the second-fastest Alt-Form in Metroid Prime Hunters, behind the Lockjaw.
