This article is about the enemy appearing in Ridley's Lair. For the technologically advanced bike appearing in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, see Vi-O-La.

A Viola is a creature that appears in Ridley's Lair on Zebes in Metroid, Metroid: Zero Mission, and in Super Metroid, also appearing in Norfair in the latter game.

Description[]

A Viola resembles a living fireball with what appears to be a sneering or grimacing facial expression. They can be blue or orange in coloration, with the latter being stronger than the former; in Super Metroid, only blue Violas appear. Normal Violas have the same wall-crawling behavior as several other life-forms.

Violas are the larvae of Multiviolas, a more powerful enemy found throughout Norfair. With the exception of Super Metroid, Violas are only found in Ridley's Lair, suggesting these younger specimens may be safer in the lower depths of Norfair.

In Zero Mission, blue and orange Violas have 12 and 20 units of health, and take 16 and 30 units of energy away from the Power Suit when touched, respectively.
