Wall hangings are recurring mirror objects within Tallon IV's Chozo Ruins. They have a highly reflective surface, and their scan states that they do not appear important, suggesting that they are merely decoration. Should Samus look into one, she will see her reflection. However, if she jumps, she is not seen Spin Jumping as in the Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Multiplayer mode; the animation remains the same as the first jump.
These wall hangings are found in the Ruined Nursery, Map Station and Save Stations 1, 2 and 3.
The hangings no longer show Samus's reflection in Metroid Prime Remastered, instead displaying a low-resolution reflection of the room they are in.
Official data[]
Scan (Ruined Nursery)[]
"An ornate wall hanging with a highly reflective surface. It does not appear important."
Development notes[]
Wall hangings were created early on in the development of Metroid Prime. However, they were scarcely used since Retro Studios found other means of showing Samus's reflection, namely through explosions showing her face (as seen in this image). Jack Mathews felt that wall hangings should have been removed for a lack of purpose, but they were not since very few things were cut from Prime.[1]
