The Wide Beam is one of the many Beams available to Samus Aran during the events of Metroid Fusion. It is similar to the Spazer Beam of other games, but the Wide Beam splits into three pink rings like a wall, as opposed to the Spazer's three individual lasers. Unlike the Spazer featured in Super Metroid, which can only hit one target at a time, the Wide Beam is made up of three separate shots, so that all three can hit different targets, exactly like the Spazer Beam's original mechanics seen in Metroid II: Return of Samus.
The Wide Beam returns in Metroid Dread, which was first confirmed in Nintendo Dream magazine[1] before later being confirmed by Nintendo's various European accounts on August 23, 2021, in a tweet. It resembles the Spazer Beam in that each shot splits into three lasers. Some puzzles involve hitting several targets at the same time with the Wide Beam to activate. The Wide Beam is now able to push certain boxes and open special doors.

Metroid Fusion: The Official Nintendo Player's Guide[]
- WIDE BEAM
- "Three shots fly from Samus's blaster at three different angles when you use the Wide Beam. The weapon is particularly effective when swarms of weak enemies are attacking or when you are firing on enemies from a distance. The Wide Beam doesn't have the overwhelming power of other advanced weapons, but it does have a shot-spreading, buckshot quality.
The Wide Beam releases three shots that spread out and hit a large area.

Trivia[]
- In addition to the Spazer Beam, the Wide Beam also resembles the Diffusion Beam from Metroid: Other M.
- Unlike the Spazer Beam prior to Metroid: Samus Returns, the Wide Beam is compatible with the Plasma Beam.
- Interestingly, when Samus absorbs the Core-X containing the Wide Beam, the text says "Wide Beam ability recovered" despite never actually owning the Wide Beam canonically prior to the events of Metroid Fusion. It is likely an oversight by developers as the Wide Beam has yet to make an official canon appearance in any event leading up to Metroid Fusion.
