Looking at their physical, mental, and emotional fortitude, I believe women represent our greatest hope in the evolution of the space program. They are naturally suited for its challenges, its benefits, and its opportunities. Woman will be the vanguards of space exploration and the future prosperity of our species.

William Davenport is the chief executive officer of Athena Astronautics. Davenport strongly believes in the potential of humanity and desires to push them to their limits.

Mackenzie King thought of his lecture on orientation day as wonderful, and described it as being "peppered with personal opinions on the phenomenology of human consciousness and its implications as we move into the new century. On Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, Davenport encouraged King to make another entry in her journal. That day she attended an orientation class on advanced weapons systems, because Davenport wanted to be prepared in case hostile alien life was discovered.

When new people started showing up in Athena's halls, Davenport did not advise everyone of their identities. Later, King discovered something about Athena that Samantha Manus might find useful, and wanted to contact her, but her journal was later terminated. This has suggested a mysterious conspiracy behind Athena, possibly involving Davenport.
