X Spawn is the debug name for a type of Hornoad nest encountered in Sector 1 of the Biologic Space Laboratories research station, during the events of Metroid Fusion. The structures resemble squat, pulsating, cylindrical brown objects similar in shape and function to Air Holes. They exist in the background of most of the SR388-mimicking rooms within Sector 1 and will spawn a seemingly infinite number of uninfected Hornoads, which can then be infected by free-floating X Parasites, causing them to enter the playable field. A spawner will only yield 2 Hornoad each; as soon as one of its Hornoads are non-present, it will immediately spew one by rapidly pulsating. No such structures are ever seen on SR388 itself. What the spawner's true coloration is remains unrevealed, as it always resides in the background out of Samus's contact, where it possesses a strong shading.
