This article is about the enemy in Super Metroid. For the creature in Metroid Fusion, see Yard (Metroid Fusion).
Metroid-yard

Yard are creatures that look like snails, with large armored shells. They can only be destroyed by Bombs, and are found in the pipe areas in Maridia in Super Metroid. They are harmless when not moving, and can be kicked around or juggled by Samus. After being kicked over, they will right themselves and continue moving.

Humorously enough, they make odd bouncing noises when kicked.

Hacking of Metroid Fusion's code has revealed unused sprites of the Yard's shell, indicating that the Yard was intended to appear in Fusion, but was dropped.
