Zipline Station Charlie is a room on SkyTown, Elysia. It appears in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Description[]

As with other Zipline Stations on SkyTown, this room is mostly navigated via Zipline Cables and otherwise in the air. Only three platforms exist, at the entrance and exit, and right before the exit.

When Samus first enters this room, she is greeted by a gate with an energy terminal that is completely empty. To unlock it, she must overload it with the Grapple Voltage, upon which the gate remains open. She can then use the Zipline. The only potential hazard while riding the Zipline are mini gates that can be shot open. As Samus nears a platform, noticeable damage to the Zipline becomes visible. It breaks when she lands over top of the platform, likely due to a mechanical failure caused by the two Aerial Repair Drones attempting to repair it. This leaves Samus stranded for the time being, as she is without a means of returning the way she came. There is enough distance for her to Screw Attack to a platform containing the exit door. She can then continue onto the Powerworks, where Aurora Unit 217 has discovered "hidden Chozo artifacts".

After obtaining said artifact - the Spider Ball - Samus will revisit this room on her way back to her Gunship. While the Zipline is now broken, much of it actually remains intact, although it is no longer usable. Samus can utilize the Screw Attack to return to the platform she fell off of, and use her new ability to navigate a complex network of Spider Ball Tracks that stretch over the entire chasm. to get from one area to another. Unique to this room, many of the Tracks twist and turn, or exist between electrical currents, which can knock Samus into the planet below if she touches one of them. Samus can pass these with a Boost Jump.

The Tracks end at a pair of platforms across from the initial entrance. On these are a group of three small SkyTown Storage Units, as well as a larger one. Otherwise, Samus can Screw Attack to the entrance and exit Zipline Station Charlie.

When the Zipline Cables are rendered inoperable, Samus must utilize Spider Ball Tracks to cross the chasms. Along the way is the Energy Tank, in the center of a half-circle-shaped Track that Samus can jump up to.

Development notes[]

The room's internal name is 0z07_skytown_voltageline, referencing the requirement to use the Grapple Voltage to access the room, as well as the Zipline that breaks down as Samus tries to use it. The keyword skytown indicates Skytown, Elysia, and the prefix 0z07 indicates that this is the seventh of 8 sets of exterior pod junction throughout the planet.
